Nationalities mix at Arctic Summer School
International Arctic Summer School started in Tornio on Monday the 29th of May. Students and lecturers represent 16 nationalities.
At the Tornio summer school 27
students in all have enrolled. Some students are degree students in
Lapland UAS while others join the summer school as a part of their
exchange studies.
In summer, studies and leisure combine closely
since the campus is otherwise quiet and the students spend most of their
time with each other. Summer School tutor and assistant Natalia Pulakka
helps the students to settle down, familiarises them with the study
practices and arranges spare time activities even for weekends. Some of
the students spend the whole summer in Tornio campus.
SummerSchool on Arctic Cooperation and Cross Border Expertise brings to Tornio
also lecturers from Lapland UAS’s European partner universities.
Lecturers to visit the summer school are Louis Klomp, Teun Lucassen,
Paul de Jong and Martje Pool from the Netherlands, profesor Bernd
Schwien (Germany), lecturer Michael Campion (Ireland), senior lecturer
Ekaterina Evmenova (Russia), lecturer Anna Soltysik-Piorunkiewicz
(Poland) and lecturers Marc Clerkx and Sylvie Vanrenterghem from
Belgium.
The summer school goes on until August 29 and during
which 30 ETCS of study modules are offered. The main study topics are
cross-cultural management, digitalisation and ICT-services and
international marketing.
