Lumen Journal 3/2021 out now

The theme of the international issue of the online Lumen Journal is Lapland in the world.

Lumen is the online magazine of Lapland University of Applied Sciences. It shares northern knowledge and spreads Arctic competence.

Lumen Journal is a publication forum for the experts of the north and it promotes, for its own part, the open accessibility of the results of the R&D activities of Lapland UAS. This is also the idea behind the name of the magazine – Lumen, which is Latin for light.

The magazine is published three times a year and each issue has a specific main theme. The latest issue is published entirely in English.

Theme: Lapland in the world

International connections and an international operating culture are the most important vitality drivers in Lapland. Thriving on the exports of products and services, the region breaths international air. It is present in our daily lives and work, often without us even noticing it.

The editor-in-chief of the international issue is Ms. Riitta Rissanen, the rector/CEO of Lapland UAS. The visiting columnists are Mr. Mika Lintilä, the Minister of Economic Affairs in Finland and Ms. Liisa Ansala, the President/CEO of Lapland Chamber of Commerce.

In this issue, the Top of Europe is described and analyzed from several perspectives. Editor-in-chief Riitta Rissanen writes:

- Lapland UAS plays an important part in strengthening competence and in cooperation with business life. International connections and an international operating culture are the most important vitality drivers in Lapland. Thriving on the exports of products and services, the region breaths international air.

- Our TalentBoost goal is to help international students be integrated and find employment in Lapland and in Finland.

In other articles and reviews, professionals of various fields enlighten, among other things, international aspects of higher education, entrepreneurship, new industries and co-operation in cross-border networks.
