Threat, vandalism or crime

Prevent situations before they happen. Theft and robbery are often preceded by an enquiry. Watch out for strange and disorderly behaviour, observe their actions and memorise their characteristics, and report your observations to the office managers.

Keep valuable equipment and money out of sight and handbags and wallets in a locked cupboard.

If you are the victim of robbery, theft or threats

  • In immediate danger of death, flee if possible.
  • Remain calm, try to slow down and try to buy time for others to see the incident.
  • Leave space for the threatening person.
  • Don't provoke the threat, don't play the hero.
  • Speak clearly and concisely and go along with the threat.
  • Avoid sudden movements. Do not turn your back on the threat and keep your hands visible. Never protect property at the risk of personal injury.
  • Try to call for help without being seen by the intruder.
  • When the threatener leaves, pay attention to the direction in which he or she is fleeing.
  • Call the emergency number 112.
  • Take notes on the offender and the events.

When a robbery, theft or threat has occurred

  • Close the crime scene to all movement, if possible.
  • Cover any traces left by the offender. Do not touch broken doors or boxes until the police arrive.
  • If necessary, refer the victim of possible violence to a health centre for further examination and/or report the crime to the police.
  • Report the incident to a security expert.
