Emergency care

The purpose of emergency care is to ensure an open airway for the patient and to maintain breathing and blood circulation.

  • Evaluate the situation, ensure your own safety and call 112.
  • Open the patient's airway by lifting the patient's chin and turning the forehead backwards.
  • Check if the patient is breathing. An unconscious and unresponsive patient is not breathing if you cannot feel airflow with your hand, ear or cheek.
  • Start compressions and ventilations.

There are cardiac shock machines, or defibrillators, in our higher education facilities. As a rule, they are located in the lobbies or corridors.
