Future Healthcare Services

Remote care and digital care solutions are the key to solving problems in the provision and availability of healthcare services, especially in sparsely populated areas.

Nature-based methods and services for supporting well-being and the related guidance skills will be highlighted in the future.

Structures and operating methods are currently changing in Finland. Changes in management culture are also necessary in the social services and healthcare sector.

The service structure, service development and provision are particularly influenced by the ageing of the population but also by clients’ freedom of choice and growing tourism.

Lapland’s diverse nature gives the opportunity for pioneering work in the provision of Green Care competence. The work of healthcare professionals increasingly emphasises advice and guidance.

Research, development and innovation
Focus

The Future Healthcare Services competence group includes educational responsibility for nurse and public health nurse training.

The competence group develops competence for promoting the health and well-being of citizens in a situation in which the work of healthcare professionals increasingly emphasises advice and guidance. At the same time, the focus of healthcare services is moving from corrective to preventive actions.

The development of competence emphasises digital solutions and nature-based methods for supporting well-being.

- Digitalisation is the solution to many local, national and even international problems in service provision and availability, especially in sparsely populated areas. Digital solutions enable high-quality remote care.

- The development of nature-based methods and services for supporting well-being and the related guidance skills will be highlighted in the future. Lapland’s diverse nature gives the opportunity for pioneering work in the provision of Green Care competence.
