Liikkuvat programs
The Lapland University of Applied Sciences joined the Liikkuva Opiskelu program in November 2023. The Liikkuva Opiskelu program is one of the national exercise promotion programs, or Liikkuvat programs. The programs promote an active lifestyle in different age and population groups. The Ministry of Education and Culture and the Education Board are responsible for the strategic management of the Mobile Learning program, the program is coordinated by Likes, which is part of the Jyväskylä University of Applied Sciences' welfare unit.
The goal of the Liikkuva Opiskelu program is to increase mobility and study ability in secondary education and universities. In accordance with the principles of the program, each educational institution develops an active operating culture in its own way. The goal is to increase coping skills and improve study ability, create stronger participation in the school, a tighter sense of community and thus also achieve better learning results.
The goal of the Lapland University of Applied Sciences is to increase students' comprehensive well-being, prevent mental health problems, and support independent mobility at a low threshold. We encourage physical activity by offering versatile wellness and exercise services. In addition, we help the teaching staff to add activating methods to teaching, which reduce staying still and sitting for longer periods of time (for example, pausing lectures). The goal is also to diversify learning environments through various means. We encourage students to lead an active everyday life, giving them the opportunity to influence their own well-being. Moving together in student groups also increases community and togetherness.
The development work to increase physical activity has started at the beginning of 2024 and the work is coordinated by the Lapland University of Applied Sciences well-being and guidance work group.
