tokyo denki university

Lapland UAS has a bilateral agreement with Tokyo Denki University (TDU). TDU offers international exchange program in autumn semester (September - December) in technical education (School of Information Environment) in Chiba New Town -campus, which is located about 25 miles away from Tokyo centre.

Who can apply?
Information Technology degree programme students, who has Finnish citizenship, can apply to the program.

Students must attend to Japanese language studies, which are mandatory for exchange students.

Students can attend to English courses as an informant or assistant to the teacher. The job is part-time and includes discussion with other studentsunder the guidance of the SIE -faculty.

Grants
Lapland UAS travel grant 1000€.

Notice that the exchange grant does not cover all the expenses of the exchange!
Costs
Students must pay entry fee (about 280 000 yen) upon arrival to TDU. Money is used to field trips, international activities and family accommodation. Family accommodation includes 2 warm meal per day. Lapland UAS takes insurance for exchange students. Students must show the certificate of insurance to TDU.

Application process

Before the exchange

  1. Start planning your exchange well in advance. Familiarize to the exchange destination, study program and costs. Fill the First Form and return it to International Services. Contact to International Services if you need help with the exchange process, forms and time table.

  2. Check the exchange university’s courses with the Study councellor. Write a Learning Agreement (LA), non-EU. LA will be signed by the Study councellor and the international services.       

  3. Fill the application forms of the exchange university and have all required appendices.

    Needed documents are:

    1. Download the Official Transcript of Records in English from Peppi

    2. Learning Agreement

    3. Letter of Recommendation

    4. Academic Objectives and Plan at Tokyo Denki

    5. Housing Application

    6. Official Certificate for Enrollment Issued by The Home Institution

    7. Student Health History (important notice)

    8. Parent Agreement (under 20 years old students)

    9. Copy of Passport

    10. Colorful passport photos, 3 photos, 3x4cm, write you name behind the picture

    11. Statement of Financial Resources (for visa application)

    12. Agreement for Defraying Expenses (for visa application)

    13. Bank Balance Certificate (for visa application)

  4. Fill the forms electronically, ask the required signatures and deliver the forms and documents to the international services for review.

  5. TDU will contact you and send you the Letter of Acceptance.

  6. Send copy of Letter of Acceptance to the international services and make your SoleMOVE application and apply for the Lapland UAS Travel Grant in SoleGRANT programme.

  7. Familiarize yourself with the Exchange Student’s Check List and the exchange destination and prepare yourself well for the trip! 

During Erasmus+ Exchange

  • Usually students make small changes to their studies. Always discuss with the study councellor about the possible changes to make sure that they are applicable for your studies.

  • Changing your study plans requires ALWAYS a document Changes to the original learning agreement non-EU. For this document remember to have the signatures from the exchange university and scan it to International Services (international@lapinamk.fi).

  • Read your Lapland UAS email! All communication from home university takes place through Lapland UAS’ email!

  • Contact the International Services if you face problematic situations during your exchange.

  • Exchange must not be discontinued or terminated earlier without discussing the matter with the International Services. 

After Erasmus+ Exchange

  1. Before leaving ask the host institution for a signed Letter of Confirmation (Recognition Outcomes - The Receiving Institution form page 1) and return it to SoleMOVE immediately after the exchange. 

  2. In SoleMOVE fill out the After exchange interleaf and Feedback interleaf.

  3. Host university sends the Transcript of Records to Lapland UAS’ International Services. International Services informs when you can pick up the transcript of records and start the credit transfer process. If you receive it personally, you must download the Transcript to SoleMOVE.

  4. Start the credit transfer process: 
    1. Contact your study councellor and start the credit transfer process electronically in Peppi by making Inclusion application.
    2. After international studies has been accepted in Peppi and you can see your credits done abroad in there, donwload your Transcript of Records through Peppi.    
    3. Upload your Transcript of Records -form to After exchange interleaf in SoleMOVE.

kagawa university

Lapland UAS has a bilateral agreement with Kagawa University in technical education. Kagawa University offers also training placements for technology students.

akita university

Lapland UAS has a bilateral agreement with Akita University (AU). AU offers whole academic year long international exchange program (October - August) called AUEP (Akita University Experimental Program). There is also possibility to apply only for one semester. Our agreement is for Business and Technology students.

Who can apply?
Business and Technology students, who has Finnish citizenship or permanent residence permit, can apply to the program.

    3. Official Academic Transcript

    5. Certificate for Enrollment

    7. Health Certificate (filled and signed by doctor, X-rays of the lungs are required and also laboratory tests which verify that the exchange student does not have tuberculosis)

    8. Copy of Passport

    9. Colorful passport photos, 3 photos, 3.5x4.5cm

    10. A Copy of Certificate of Japanese Language Proficiency Test* (ex. A Copy of Certificate of JLPT) if available *Those who wish to apply for AUAJ Program must submit this document

  4. Fill the forms electronically, ask the required signatures and deliver the forms and documents to the international services for review.

  5. AU will contact you and send you the Letter of Acceptance.

  6. Send copy of Letter of Acceptance to the international services and make your SoleMOVE application and apply for the Lapland UAS Travel Grant in SoleGRANT programme.

university of hokkaido

Lapland UAS has a bilateral agreement with University of Hokkaido. Our agreement is for Technology, Forestry and Rural Industries students. You can apply for study exchange and University of Hokkaido offers also training placements for students.

Technology, Forestry and Rural Industries students, who has Finnish citizenship or permanent residence permit, can apply to the program.
Grants

For Study Exchange Lapland UAS travel grant 1000€ and Lapland UAS Study Exchange grant 300,00 €/month.

For practical training Exchange Lapland UAS travel grant 1000€ and Lapland UAS practical training grant 300,00 €/month.

Applicaton process; practical training exchange

Before the exchange

  1. Book well in advance counselling with the International Services.
  2. Discuss with your training instructor about the training place’s suitability.
  3. Write the:
    • Learning Agreement for Traineeships. Training Agreement will be signed by you, the study councellor/training instructor, the international services and the training destination/institution. All signatures must be found in the agreement but it can be handed around as a scan. 
    • If needed, make a separate contract of employment (Must show the amount of possible salary, CV etc. the possible documents required by the employer or the field of your study.
  4. Fill all needed forms by computer, ask the required signatures and deliver forms and documents to the International services for review.
  5. Fill in the electronic SoleMOVE -application.
  6. After International Services has accepted your exchange in SoleMOVE:
    • Confirm the exchange in SoleMOVE and then apply for Lapland UAS Training Grant and Lapland UAS Travel Grant in SoleGRANT programme by making one application. Remember to write your IBAN bank account number and Finnish social security number!
    • Upload approved Learning Agreement for Traineeships SoleGRANT to Enclosures interleaf.
  7. Familiarize yourself with the Exchange Student’s Check List, get insurances for the exchange, familiarize yourself with the exchange destination and prepare yourself well for the trip!

During the exchange

  • Read your Lapland UAS email! All communication from home university takes place through Lapland UAS’s email!
  • Contact the International Services if you face problematic situations during your exchange. We are delighted to hear your positive experiences as well.
  • Exchange must not be discontinued or terminated earlier without discussing the matter with the International Services.

After the exchange

  • Before leaving ask the employer for a signed Traineeship Certificate. It is a confirmation of your exchange period/dates and based on the document, students can be asked to pay back some part of the grant if needed.
  • Return the Traineeship Certificate to SoleMOVE.
  • In SoleMOVE, fill out the required information in the After exchange interleaf and Feedback interleaf.
  • Start the credit transfer process:
  1. Contact your practical training supervisor in the faculty.
  2. After you can see your practical training credits done abroad in Peppi, request your Transcript of Records through Peppi.  
  3. Upload your Transcript of Records -form to After exchange interleaf in SoleMOVE.
