Lapland UAS has a bilateral agreement with Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts.
The agreement is between Lapland UAS and their three following faculties: Engineering and Architecture, Business and Computer Science and Information Technology.

Lucerne has AACSB international accreditation.
AACSB accreditation recognizes business schools that meet a particularly high standard of quality in Bachelor and Master programmes, executive education, research and services.
Lucerne offers teaching in both English and German.

Semesters:
Spring: February - July (e.g. academic year 22/23: 21.2. - 9.7.2022)
Autumn: September-February (e.g. academic year 22/23: 19.9. - 4.2.2023)

Grants

 

Swiss program grant for students from Erasmus+ mobility countries
• Students can apply for a Swiss program grant through Lucerne
• Ask more from Lapland UAS Internationalisation Services: outgoing@lapinamk.fi


Lapland UAS travel grant
• If the student does not receive any other travel grant, student can apply Lapland UAS travel grant. The grant amount is €450/exchange/total (one-time payment before the exchange period starts)


Lapland UAS study/training grant
• If the student does not receive any other exchange grant, student can apply Lapland UAS study/training grant. The grant amount is €300/full exchange month.


KELA

• Please also check available financial aids that you may receive from KELA for studies abroad.
• KELA financial aids and amounts for the exchange studies may differ from the ones you may receive while studying in Finland.



The grants alone are not enough to cover the costs of the exchange, so you also have to use your own funds!

Insurances
Lapland UAS insurance is valid during the studies, but not during free time.
Students must obtain travel insurance themselves.

Note! We recommend students also to get free European health insurance card through Kela.


Accommodation

Take into account the costs of accommodation.
Depending on the apartment, the rental costs may vary, and in addition to them, you should be prepared for e.g. for possible water and electricity bills.


Travelling
Please note that the travel grant is not necessarily enough to cover the costs incurred from traveling to and from the destination.

• When the exchange application has been approved, the Lapland UAS Internationalisation Services will nominate the student as an applicant to Lucerne by the deadline in October.
• After that, the student continues according to the Lucernes' instructions in their application process.

 

Application process

Before the exchange

  1. Start planning your exchange well in advance. Familiarize to the exchange destination, study program and costs.

  2. Check the exchange university’s courses with the Study councellor. Write a Learning Agreement (LA), non-EU. LA will be signed by the Study councellor and the internationalisation services.   

  3. Contact to Internationalisation Services if you need help with the exchange process, forms and time table.

  4. Make your SoleMOVE application 

  5. Ones your application has been approved, Lapland UAS Internationalisation Services will nominate you to the destination/host university. (Internationalisation Services will sent you a message one you have been nominated)

  6. Start application process to the destination. Follow the instructions that host university will sent you. (Hox! If you don't get instruction from the host university, please contact Internationalisation Services (outgoing@lapinamk.fi). Host university should contact you within a month after the nomination)

  7. After you have finished the application process for your host university, you will receive Letter of Acceptance . One you have receive that, you can apply for the Lapland UAS Grants in SoleGRANT programme.

  8. Familiarize yourself with the Exchange Student’s Check List and the exchange destination and prepare yourself well for the trip! 


During Exchange

  • Usually students make small changes to their studies. Always discuss with the study councellor about the possible changes to make sure that they are applicable for your studies.

  • Changing your study plans requires ALWAYS a document Changes to the original learning agreement non-EU. For this document remember to have the signatures from the exchange university and scan it to Internationalisation Services (outgoing@lapinamk.fi).

  • Read your Lapland UAS email! All communication from home university takes place through Lapland UAS’ email!

  • Contact the Internationalisation Services if you face problematic situations during your exchange.

  • Exchange must not be discontinued or terminated earlier without discussing the matter with the Internationalisation Services. 

After Exchange

  1. Before leaving ask the host institution for a signed Letter of Confirmation (Recognition Outcomes - The Receiving Institution form page 1) and return it to SoleMOVE immediately after the exchange. 

  2. In SoleMOVE fill out the After exchange interleaf and Feedback interleaf.

  3. Host university sends the Transcript of Records to Lapland UAS’ Internationalisation Services. Internationalisation Services informs when you can pick up the transcript of records and start the credit transfer process. If you receive it personally, you must download the Transcript to SoleMOVE.

  4. Start the credit transfer process: 
    1. Contact your study councellor and start the credit transfer process electronically in Peppi by making Inclusion application.
    2. After international studies has been accepted in Peppi and you can see your credits done abroad in there, download your Transcript of Records through Peppi.    
    3. Upload your Transcript of Records -form to After exchange interleaf in SoleMOVE.
